Apple Overtakes Samsung to Become the World’s No. 1 Phone Seller
Apple has finally dethroned Samsung to become the world’s number one phone seller, according to the International Data Corporation (IDC). Apple’s iPhone series accounted for 20% of the global market share in 2023, with close to 235 million shipments, while Samsung’s shipments slumped double-digits to 226.6 million. The company shipped 72.1 million units, while Samsung’s shipments only reached 59.5 million units for a 16.3% market share. Although Apple has long been a popular smartphone maker, the company has never topped the global smartphone rankings, according to IDC.
