Nostalgia returns: Experience thrill for the new seasons of your favourites shows— ‘Suzhal, ‘ Bandish Bandits, ‘ Panchayat, ‘Mirzapur’ & ‘Paatal Lok’.
Since I regularly binge-watch shows, I am rather confident that we require a word to encompass that feeling that comes over you – halfway through a new series.
For instance, the feeling you get after listening to music, watching a movie, or reading a good book is referred to as a ‘hangover’.
There is, however, no word to describe the sadness, the loss, or the down-in-the-doldrums ache you feel when a series ends. This angst is even more poignant when the rolling credits are at the end of a season finale show. It is then followed by the agonizing period of waiting for months sometimes years for the next season to come.
I first had this problem when Game of Thrones had three seasons available, and in some inexplicable way, I had not watched any episode of the show, even though everyone seemed to be raving about it. I had it on my ‘to do’ list, but it wasn’t until I found myself on a health retreat in a deserted winter town in Austria detoxing (which provided all the free time one could ever wish for) that I started watching the series. Within the one week that I spent there, I GOT TO WATCH ALL THE SEASONS. And then, like everyone else, I waited for a new season. Weekly episodes could only be viewed in real-time. If one could not, one had to stay away from people and the internet so that someone would not ruin the movie.
Then, after you have watched it, there would be discussions and debates. You’d buy everything possible on the series; the behind the scenes, the theories, the cast members. .. But still it was not enough. The series ended with the threat of that dreaded term: the final season. And then you’re off on this search for something else that has the same capacity to make you feel good.
Panchayat Season 3 (Hindi)
It is a well-known fact that return series are always more anticipated than the new ones. Because they are loved. The world is familiar. In addition, you are as familiar with the characters as you are with friends and other close relatives. Sometimes even more! That is why I eagerly anticipate the release of Panchayat Season 3, which is set to premiere on May 28th. In the last episode of Season 2, the character Prahlad Pandey (Faisal Malik), a widower and the assistant pradhan of Phulera, is shown to be mourning the death of the only family he has – his son – in a war. Thus, in a comedy drama this was a rather disturbing finale.
It will be interesting to see what happens next. However, the stamped lauki in the vegetable markets continues the suspense – where the search for a new Sachivji starts when the earlier one goes back to his books. The lauki, on which emphasis has been laid for marketing the new season, is as distinct as the show itself. Mark the date: The third installment of Panchayat will release in Hindi and will have dubbed versions in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada on May 28th.
Mirzapur Season 3 (Hindi)
One of the most famous franchises of movies, which describe the story of the organised criminal partnership, is the movie filled with blood and violence. Unfolding the crime thriller drama of power, vengeance, political animal, and betrayal in India’s hinterland of energy, promise, hatred, the family saga had dark but keep the audience glued to the edge. Be prepared for a lot of gun toting, overly masculine representatives and the hormone testosterone. All those bad boys are still with us, have remained alive in our mind, indeed in our souls, though their virtues are envy and anger.
Families die (or murder seems more appropriate) with such an intensity that there is even more murder and mayhem in both the finales of this series. Season 2 of this gangster saga however offers more content than previous season, yet less than the next, and thus the stranger situation is entirely captivating. there is introduction of new members of the cast and also there is elimination of some of the other characters as well with the war being set to start very soon.
As the stunt master and the real power behind the Swadhan Kro Hok Limited, the almost-getaway boy Anjumm Shharma aka Sharad Shukla gets nearly everything he wanted in the Season 2 finale where he creates a divide between Munna (Divyendu) and his father, Akhandanand ‘Kaleen’ Tripathi (Pankaj Tripathi). Shatrughan Tyagi (Vijay Verma; in a brief but pivotal double role of a man and his identical twin brother Bharat) is a lucky man, he is lucky because he is alive, and that is quite unexpected as he was involved in a shootout that led to his maternal uncle’s death and his brother Bharat’s death (at least that is what the audience is led to believe). However, a lot of turmoil occurs and Kaleen gets ownership of the territory back in 1. Guddu (Ali Fazal) inherits the kingdom and becomes the –ahem–king in 2.
Wet paint, a new king in 3? In fact, Sharad Shukla appears all set to jump into the battlefield alone. Shatrughan Tyagi, not to the extent as they. Anyway, this gangster drama will be intriguing no matter the case because everyone desires to see a conclusion to an issue. With the current season 3, the threat level rises, and dimension expands to even broader levels. and to know what is coming. The ever rising question remains as to whether the throne or Gaddi of Mirzapur will be fought and won, or conquered and seized, in what is essentially a war or power and power struggle where trust can be a commodity that is soon to be relinquished as luxury.
Paatal Lok Season 2 (Hindi)
All the shows come to a climax with the intention of making the audience demand for the next episode or part. Some series end with unsolved mysteries to continue the anticipation. But the crime thriller Paatal Lok Season 1 concluded in what is a suicide. It was like the final scene in a television show and definitely the end of their friendship.
While the series is full of unexpected plots and subplots, the three Indian economic classes upper, middle, and lower classes serve as representations of heaven (swarg) and earth (dharti) and hell (paatal) where police officer Hathiram Chaudhary (Jaideep Ahlawat) is determined to solve a case that can cost him his life. Encased in the politics of the power nexus, primetime television, and skyrocketing crime rates, the season follows him in the hunt of four hitmen, spearheaded by Vishal ‘Hathoda’ Tyagi played by Abhishek Banerjee. He grows to accept how things are in the end of the series.
Hitman Tyagi shoots himself in the climax as he is aware that his dear one, Masterji is no more. This time it looked like the very end. Everything was neatly wrapped. All the questions that were brought up were answered. It seemed that there was no plan for the second part of events. Thus, expectations are high to know where creator Sudip Sharma can lead now. Unfortunately, there is no official information regarding the date of the second season premier.
What we do know is that Inspector Hathiram Chaudhary (Jaideep Ahlawat) is coming back with green horn cop Ansari (Ishwak Singh), besides Gul Panag and Anurag Arora. What will be different in the sequel?Tillotama Shome and Nagesh Kukunoor will also be seen in the film. For those who do not remember, Season 1 was released in 2020 and it might be wise to refresh your memory a bit.
Bandish Bandits Season 2 (Hindi)
Bandish Bandits is a show of its own kind. An exploration of love between a traditional singer Radhe played by Ritwik Bhowmik and a rebellious pop singer Tamanna portrayed by Shreya Chaudhry in Season 1 of the web series Bandish Bandits. Songs unite them and create rifts between them. The season ended pathetically when Tamanna dumped Radhe in a bid to discover herself and follow her passion for music.
Season 1 had a chart buster album with many popular Indian classical songs as well as popular modern songs. The music is as always the biggest asset and something to await in the second season. The new season will be directed by Anand Tiwari, and the cast includes Ritwik Bhowmik, Shreya Chaudhry, Sheeba Chaddha, Atul Kulkarni, Rajesh Tailang and Kunaal Roy Kapur. The new characters in the second season are Divya Dutta, Rohan Gurbaxani, Yashaswini Dayama, Aaliyah Qureshi, and Saurabh Nayyar.
Suzhal – The Vortex Season 2 (Tamil)
If you have seen the movie Vikram Vedha, starring R. Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi, the chances are, you gave and watched Suzhal based on experience and the reputation that the makers Pushkar-Gayathri have gained among viewers. The duo does not falter in their attempt to get into the skin of an entertaining and engaging mystery thriller wherein the backdrop is an annual prade of a local community but wherein the narrative takes place is universal. With no regard to language barriers and limitations, Suzhal explores the festival and the changing relations between the inhabitants and the celebration, as well as cultural practices and assumptions.
