Some of the industry people present in the meeting told Dainik Jagran that if some big global car manufacturing companies are ready to enter the Indian market, then the Indian market in the two-wheeler market. Companies are also seeing an increase in demand. According to the information that has come out so far, in the last six months, Chinese electric vehicle companies have stopped the export of two-wheelers. Installation has started. The reason is that the demand for electric cars in their domestic market is high. The good news for India is that India’s petrol-powered vehicles already have a good reputation in South American and African markets where there is demand for EV two-wheelers. Scooters and motorcycles from Bajaj Auto, TVS and Hero have already overtaken Chinese two-wheeler companies in these markets.
NITI Aayog said, companies will have to expand existing manufacturing capacity
A few months ago, Ather Energy, a leading two-wheeler company in the country, entered the market of Nepal. NITI Aayog has asked Indian companies to expand their existing manufacturing capacity to tap the opportunities available in the overseas market. There is a huge demand for it in the Indian market. In 2019-20, only 28 thousand electric two-wheelers were sold in India, which increased to 7.28 lakh in 2023-24. A three-fold increase in sales is expected during the current financial year. In such a situation, Indian companies like Ather, Ola Electric, Hero Electric, Okinawa Autotech, Bajaj Auto etc. will have to expand their capacity drastically.
