Gorakhpur : The police will conduct verification of drivers and conductors of buses running in 144 schools in the district. The SP Traffic has directed all the schools to provide a list of these after holding a meeting. After getting the list, the police will send them to the local police stations according to their address and get them verified from the police. The drivers who will be from outside the districts, the police will write a letter and get it verified from the police of their district. The police have been given two weeks “time to provide the list to the school administration. Police will take action against those who are found guilty in the investigation.
In view of the increasing crimes against school children, the RTO and the traffic police had sent letters to the school administration along with the officials of the education department a few years ago to verify the character of their drivers and conductors. Following this, the campaign was suspended. In a meeting held recently on jams and fitness of school vehicles, the SP Traffic once again raised the issue of verification. On this, some schools said that character verification of drivers and conductors has been done by them through the app. When the SP saw the app, he found it fake, he has not even got the right of verification from anywhere. After this, he directed the managers present in the meeting along with other school administrations to provide a list of drivers and conductors of the buses running in their area. The list will also include the names of drivers and conductors of the contracted buses.
Sanjay Kumar, SP Traffic said that all the schools have been directed to provide the list of buses, drivers and khalasis running in their area. After this, verification will be done from local police stations according to their address. Those who live outside will be verified by sending them to their home district.
