Too soon, a talent was taken from the world. Willie Spence (runner-up in American Idol Season 19) has passed away at the age of 23. According to reports, the singer suffered severe injuries in a car accident in Tennessee on Tuesday, October 11, 2022.
Katharine McPhee, an Idol contestant, confirmed the news via Instagram. She wrote, “I received very sad news tonight. Sweet @williespenceofficial passed away in a car accident. He was only 23 years old. Life is so unpredictable and nothing can be promised.” The star said, “God Rest Your Soul Willie.” It was an honor to sing with you, and to get to know you.
Tragically, Willie had uploaded a video of himself singing in his car just minutes before the accident. He was singing “You Are My Hiding Place”
Willie was a fan favorite on American Idol season 19. He performed “Georgia On My Mind”, “An Change is Gonna Come” as well as “Stand Up” during the finale. However, Chayce Beckham won more votes than the judges and was named this year’s Idol.
