Former South African batter AB de Villiers predicted that India would play New Zealand in the T20 World Cup final and that the Rohit-led team would win the trophy. On Wednesday, the first semi-final between New Zealand and Pakistan takes place in Sydney. The second semi-final, which will feature India and England, will be played in Adelaide on Thursday. De Villiers said that India and New Zealand would play the final, and he believes India will win. He spoke to ANI on the sidelines at the launch of The Last Man Stands (LMS), the India Super League 2023. This is the largest amateur T20 cricket league in the world.
India has not had a great record against New Zealand at ICC events. They lost to New Zealand in a crucial match in the group stage at the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. They also lost the ICC World Test Championship final and the 2019 50-over World Cup semifinals to New Zealand.
De Villiers spoke out about the performance of the Indian team’s individual players, saying that “everyone is playing well.” Suryakumar and Virat look in great form. Rohit may not have had the best run but he will be there when it is most important. He is an exceptional player. Talented players can be seen throughout the batting team. They will have a great game against England which will be their greatest test. They will win the trophy if they reach the semifinals.
Virat has been in great form so far in this tournament. He has played five matches and scored 246 runs, an average of 123.00 runs, and three half-centuries. This includes his iconic knock of 82* against Pakistan at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
Suryakumar Yadav also did amazingly, scoring 225 runs across five matches at an average of 75.00, with three fifties.
As a bowling unit, Arshdeep Singh (10 wickets), Hardik Pandya (8 innings), Mohammad Shami (6 innings), Bhuvneshwar Kul (4 wickets), and spinner Ravichandran Ashwin (6 innings) have done an outstanding job.
The Indian top order is still far from its peak. KL Rahul scored 123 runs in five innings, with two half-centuries. However, he struggled to score in his first three games. Rohit Sharma, the Skipper, has only managed 89 runs. His best score was 53 against the Netherlands.
