The police in St. Vincent and the Grenadines said American criminal Christian Oliver and his two daughters had died in a plane crash near a small island in the eastern Caribbean.

The accident happened Thursday just west of the island of Little Nevis, near Bequia, while the plane was on its way to St. Lucia, the police said in a statement.
They identified the girls as Madita Klepser, 10, and Annik Klepser, 12, and added that the pilot, Robert Sachs, also died. The cause of the crash was not immediately known, according to police. Authorities said that fishermen and divers went to the scene of the accident to help the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Coast Guard is on its way there.
“The selfless and courageous actions of the fishermen and anglers are highly appreciated,” said the police. The 51-year-old German-born actor has numerous film and television roles, including the 2008 film Speed Racer and The Good German, the 2006 Steven Soderbergh film World War II with George Clooney and Cate Blanchett. He appeared in the second season of the 1990 series The Bell: The Next Class, playing a Swiss transfer student named Brian Keller.
