Musheer Khan’s second century of the tournament, a score of 131, and Adarsh Singh’s 52 helped India post a challenging total of 295 for eight. In response, New Zealand’s top order was dismantled by left-arm spinner Saumy Kumar Pandey, who took four wickets for 19 runs, and pacer Raj Limbani, who took two wickets for 17 runs. Musheer Khan’s outstanding performance in the ICC Under-19 World Cup continued as he scored his second century of the tournament against New Zealand. His score of 131, which included 13 fours and three sixes off just 125 balls, helped India post a challenging total of 295 for eight. Musheer became the first batter in the current competition to breach the 300-run mark, going past Pakistan’s Shahzaib Khan with his stupendous effort. En route to his century, Musheer showed admirable temperament to up the ante when required.
Impressive Bowling by Saumy Kumar Pandey
Left-arm spinner Saumy Kumar Pandey was the star of the show for India in their match against New Zealand. Pandey finished with splendid figures of four wickets for 19 runs, knocking the stuffing out of Black Caps’ chase. New Zealand was left reeling at 27 for four in the PowerPlay and could never really stage a comeback as Indian colts looked favourites to win the tournament. Pandey’s disciplined bowling was instrumental in India’s victory.
