Trevor Noah took over the Comedy Central show following Jon Stewart’s departure in the year 2015.
Trevor Noah announced on Thursday that he was departing “The Daily Show” after the show’s hostship for seven years ago.
“I have realized after seven years of hosting that my time has come to an end,” Noah said to his stunned audience. “But to put it in a lovely way, I’ve enjoyed having this series on the air. This has been among my biggest tasks, but it’s also been one of my greatest pleasures. Noah revealed to his audience “there’s an additional aspect of my life that I’d like to continue exploring” which includes learning languages. Noah stressed that the fact that he’s “not disappearing” however he was unsure of when he’ll officially step out of his long-running Comedy Central show.
“And I’m truly thankful, you know for a network that believed in this comedian who was unknown in this part of the planet,” Noah said.
The comedian continued to thank his audience as well as viewers in the home, and compare his taking over “The The Daily Show” to receiving “handed keys” to Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory.
“But I wouldn’t have been able to do it without you. I wouldn’t want to accomplish this without your help. So we’ll work out the timeframes … We’ll be around for the moment. All I can do is say thank you for everything,” Noah said before ending his show.
The Comedy Central spokesperson told Fox News Digital, “We are thankful to Trevor for the amazing relationship we’ve had for the last seven years. Without a timetable for the end of his contract, we’re working together to determine the next steps. Looking ahead, we’re looking forward to the next chapter of the nearly 25 years of “The Daily Show” in its quest to redefine the world of entertainment through funny and sharp social commentarythat helps viewers get a sense of the world that surrounds them.”
Noah was appointed host on “The The Daily Show” after the departure of its most popular name Jon Stewart, who helmed the show from 1999 until 2015.
