Frost hasn’t been the sole coach who has received the huge sum of money for leaving the organization. Five universities have dismissed their coaches. Collectively, these coaches will earn $56.7 million through buyouts.

Frost is the biggest winner, with $15 million, however, the other coaches are doing extremely well for themselves too. Colorado was fired Karl Dorell after the Buffaloes began the season 0-5 and were defeated 216-67 over the course of five games. Dorell will be rewarded with a the benefit of a $11.4 million purchase.

Geoff Collins went 10-28 in three seasons with The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, which he was ejected in late September. Geoff Collins is expected to earn $11.3 million on the buyout.

Paul Chryst led Wisconsin to four seasons with at least 10 wins, and six bowl game wins and twice was selected as the Big Ten Coach of the Year. But, the Badgers have struggled to get out of the starting line this year and the school fired him following a 1-3 beginning. The buyout amount is $11 million.

Then, Herm Edwards, who recorded winning records during all his seasons during his time at Arizona State (aside from the 2020 season, which was cut by Covid-19) This year, he started with a 1-2. In the end, when Edwards’ team lost, the Sun Devils lost 30-21 to Eastern Michigan, Edwards was dismissed. Arizona State will pay him $8 million to buy out his team.

That’s five Football coaches making the equivalent of $11.34 million just to quit coaching their teams any more. It’s no wonder that buyouts are becoming the commonplace in coaching contracts for college football as they’re an excellent option to earn a salary even if you’ve had poor performance in the game.
