Jennifer Lopez is an American performer, actress, dancer and fashion designer. She is also a businesswoman, and television producer. Her career spans over 25 years, and currently she is among the biggest stars of Hollywood’s A-list.

Early Life
Jennifer Lynn Lopez was born on the 24th of July 1969, in the Bronx Borough located in New York City. Parents, Guadalupe Rodriguez and David Lopez both are Puerto Rican. Her older sibling is named Leslie and one younger sister called Lynda.
Her father worked in the night shift in an insurance firm. Her mother was household worker. They lived in a tiny home within the Castle Hill neighborhood when Jennifer was born. In the following years Jennifer’s parents purchased the house with two floors.
Jennifer began learning to dance and sing at the age of five. Her parents urged their daughters to perform at home, dancing and singing in front of one another and their peers so they could stay out of trouble. Lopez went to Catholic schools throughout her academic time. She competed in gymnastics,
ran track on a national scale and played part of her high school’s softball team. In her senior year of High School, Lopez auditioned for and was selected for the low-budget indie film My Little Girl.
The experience made JLo realise that she was destined to be a film actor. Her parents believed that it was an “really foolish” idea due to the fact that “no Latinos did that.” To please her parents she enrolled at Baruch College but dropped out in the first year.
Dancing Career
Following that college semester, Lopez moved out of her parents’ home into a new apartment in Manhattan due to disagreements over her plans to pursue the field of dance and acting. Soon after, she was on stage in local productions such as Jesus Christ Superstar and Oklahoma!.
Then, she was employed for singing in the choir of Golden Musicals of Broadway, which was on tour across Europe during five years. After that, she was offered the opportunity to be the singer, dancer and choreographer on the television show Synchronicity which was filmed in Japan.
In 1991 she was a back-up dancer on the show New Kids on the Block and was a part of their performance at the 18th Annual American Music Awards. After a few months she was offered a job as an In Living Color Fly Girl dancer on In Living Color.
She beat out 2,000 candidates and relocated from Los Angeles for the job. JLo continued to be as a regular member of the cast until 1993, when she decided to pursue a career as an actor.
Acting Career
Lopez was a minor character in TV shows and films between 1993 and 1995. Her first film appearance was in 1995 when she was cast in the title role for the biopic Selena. In the film, Jennifer played the late Tejano singer Selena who was shot dead by a former colleague employee,
fan club member and president. In the following film, Jennifer went on to be seen on screen in Anaconda, Out of Sight, The Wedding Planner, and An Unfinished Life, among several other films.
On August 3, 2003 Lopez played opposite Ben Affleck in the romantic comedy Gigli. The film became a box office failure and is considered to be to be among the most shaky films ever made. The film’s lack of success was due to negative press prior to its release in addition to the attention paid to Lopez and Affleck’s involvement, that mostly dominated the film.
Lopez would later refer to this as the low point in her professional career. In March of 2004, Lopez had a minor part in the film Jersey Girl, alongside Affleck. The character’s death is a result of childbirth in the first fifteen minutes in the movie.

making the network the most watched Thursday premiere in seven years, with 8.6 millions viewers. Shades of Blue was renewed for a second run, that premiered in March of 2017. The exact month also saw the show was renewed for its third season.
In the year 2019, Lopez was a part of and co-produced the film Hustlers The film was based on a true tale of a group prostitutes in New York City who con wealthy men. Lopez’s portrayal as a veteran stripper earned her the highest opening weekend at the box office of live-action films, which was $33.2 million.
Lopez was awarded the Best supporting actress in the Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild Awards and Critic’s Choice Movie Awards as well as the Independent Spirit Awards.
