Rahul Gandhi’s electoral politics and ED’s sigh of relief

Rahul Gandhi

Wayanad is my home, and the people of Wayanad are my family. From them, I have learnt a lot in the last five years and received a lot of love and affection. It is with great pride and humility that I am filing my nomination for Lok Sabha 2024 once again from this beautiful land.

This election is a fight for the soul of India. This is a fight to save our democracy from the forces of hate, corruption and injustice who want to suppress the voice of Mother India.

I, along with every member of India, will not rest till this battle is won. We will bring together every citizen from Kanyakumari to Kashmir and from Manipur to Mumbai to strengthen the union of our states.

Sigh of relief

ED officials heaved a sigh of relief after the Congress manifesto was released. Speculations were rife that the Congress could promise to repeal the PMLA in its manifesto. The seriousness of its inclusion in the agenda of the main opposition party can be understood from the fact that after the opening of the office, it has become a subject of discussion in the entire ED headquarters. From officials to employees, the ED’s relevance in matters related to investigation after the PMLA is over to India’s position in terms of global standards.

In the afternoon, when Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge released the manifesto and there was no direct mention of scrapping the PMLA, the round of apprehensions and discussions came to an end and everyone started investigating their respective cases related to the PMLA.

Busy even between elections

At this time, despite the busyness of the ministers due to the election campaign, the officers of all the ministries do not have time. The same officials were planning to travel during the elections till a few months ago. He was confident that he would breathe a sigh of relief by the time the election results were out, but he has now been asked to start preparing for the work after the formation of the government.

The officers have been asked to prepare an action plan keeping in mind the next five years along with the next 100 days. However, the junior officers are heaving a sigh of relief these days as the daily work in the ministry is getting reduced. However, the big officers have to prepare an agenda of 100 days to take the country in a new direction. They have been given a deadline till the end of May. In such a situation, some senior officers even say that now they will get time only after retiring.

Curiosity

If the weather is election season, it is natural that discussions related to it dominate in the corridors of political parties. In such a situation, when the seats associated with the most prominent political family of the country are Amethi and Rae Bareli, then the interest will be much more. Priyanka Vadra has not ended the suspense over contesting these traditional seats. Robert Vadra, who has been expressing his political ambitions ahead of every election, has added to the disquiet within the party by expressing his desire to contest from Amethi.

In fact, not only the grassroots workers of the party, but also the big leaders want the Gandhi family not to leave their stronghold. So as soon as Robert’s statement came, many party stalwarts called each other and wanted to know the reality, but the problem was that no one knew what the final strategy of the Gandhi family on Amethi-Raebareli was. Party leaders cannot even ask about this directly, they even groped some journalists, but their curiosity could not be quenched.

Counter propaganda

Putting the Election Commission in the dock is nothing new. Such allegations are often made by political parties or leaders after the election results. It is a different matter that the Commission does not respond to such allegations. As a result, in the last few years, a barrage of allegations against the Commission began. Most of them also started trending on the internet. This raised questions about the credibility of the commission not only in the country but also abroad.

It is being said that the eyes of the commission, which remained silent on such misleading propaganda, were opened when a delegation of the commission on a foreign trip had to face such questions. At present, the Commission has now decided to clear the air of all such misleading allegations. The Commission has not launched a portal to counter the propaganda against it. It is different that he now has such a long list of misleading allegations that the challenge before the portal is huge.
