Indian cricketer Suryakumar Yadav has been named the ICC T20 International Cricketer of the Year 2023. The announcement was made by the ICC on Wednesday. This is the second time that Yadav has won this award, making him the only Indian player to win it twice.
Yadav has made history by becoming one of the only two players to win the ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year award twice. He beat Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza, New Zealand’s Mark Chapman, and Uganda’s Alpesh Ramjani to win the award.
Yadav has been at the top of the ICC T20 rankings for a long time. He had an outstanding performance in the shortest format of the game last year. He scored 733 runs in 17 T20I matches at an average of 48.86 and a strike rate of 155.95. He also scored two centuries and five half-centuries during this period.
Yadav had also made headlines last year when he scored an unbeaten 112 runs off just 51 balls against Sri Lanka in Rajkot. He hit nine fours and seven sixes during his innings. With this century, he became the second-fastest Indian to score a century in men’s T20I matches after Rohit Sharma.
Apart from his individual performances, Yadav also led India in T20I series against Australia and South Africa last year. Under his captaincy, India defeated Australia 4-1 and drew the three-match series against South Africa 1-1.
Yadav’s consistent performances have made him one of the most valuable players in the Indian cricket team. He is known for his aggressive batting style and his ability to score runs quickly.
